Deora Dé

People often ask us what does the boats name mean? It is pronounced "D oar ah - Day". It is Irish (Gaelic), it translates to both "Tears of God" or "God's Tears". Deora Dé is the old Irish name for the Fuchsia plant.

MV Deora Dé

is a modern fast 400hp intercooled turbo diesel powered Offshore 105, 35 feet (10.5m) in length X 12 feet ( 3.66m) beam. The Offshore 105 is by far the most popular type of charter boat in operation in the UK and Ireland, It has a "Trihedral" hull design giving a very large working deck. She is very safe and very stable and can handle any of the usual conditions that "Mother Nature" can throw at it here off Cork Harbour with ease! She has a large wheelhouse with a comfortable seating area. She has a cooking area with a large kettle and ample supplies of free tea and coffee. Another must for your comfort is a clean working sea toilet.

Passenger License

Deora Dé is fully licensed to carry up-to 12 passengers and 2 crew by the Department of Transport marine survey office. She has been granted a maximum "P5" passenger boat license ( D.O.T P5 license No - 147 ) her current plying limits are within a 30 nautical mile radius of Cork Harbour, Ballycotton, and Kinsale. That covers undoubtedly some of the very best fishing grounds in Europe!

The Skipper

James your skipper has been involved in Deep Sea Angling in Cork Harbour since 1977 and has lots of excellent fishing marks. He will put you over the fish at all times. He is fully qualified with commercial endorsements in Advanced Powerboat handling / Seafaring First Aid to "The Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping 1995 (STCW 95)" / Personal Survival techniques to STCW 95 . James is also fully qualified, experienced and licensed to operate maritime radio transceivers and other communications & navigation equipment.
