Fishing

Deora Dé has a large deck area capable of facilitating 12 anglers although for serious fishing we would recommend that you limit your group to 8-10 people for comfort.

We offer all types of fishing and cater for everyone, from the novice who has never fished before right up to international match team anglers.

Evening Trips

Evening trips are available during the summer months and usually depart at 6pm and return for 9:30pm or a little later/earlier depending on light conditions. Evening trips are idea for work outings, or the ideal way to get your first taste of deep sea angling. It is the ideal type of trip to give kids their first taste of boat angling as kids can easily get bored on their first long duration trip. Although primarily for mackerel evening trips can see excellent catches of many other species including Cod, Whiting, Wrasse, Pollock, Coalfish, Ling, Scad,Garfish, and more.

Day Trips

Full day trips are available all year round but the most productive fishing is had between April and October each year. Full day trips consist of any of the following types of fishing General, Reef, Wreck, or Shark fishing. They can be fished drifting or at anchor or both depending on the type of fishing and conditions on the day. Full day trips usually depart at 10am and return at around 5:30pm. Species caught on a full day trip can include all of the species caught on evening trips and several more species including Ray, Conger Eel, plaice, Dabs, Pouting, Dogfish, Bullhuss, and many more.

Half Day Trips

You may also charter Deora Dé for a half day trip either in the morning or in the afternoon whichever suits your requirement.

Shark Fishing

Shark fishing is a very enjoyable experience. We would not recommend shark fishing for the beginner, I would recommend that you get a few full day trips to experience fighting some of the larger species like Conger Eel and Ling under your belt first. Blues Sharks are in abundance here off Cork Harbour in late summer from late June to October but the best times are Late July to early October each year. All sharks are released after you take photographs of the anglers and their shark. In the interest of conservation under no circumstance will we allow blue sharks to be brought ashore. Shark trips are slightly more expensive than a normal full day trip because of the distance we must travel out to the "Blues sleeping ground" and rod & tackle hire is more expensive due to the very expensive tackle and rod & reel required. Shark fishing is a form of float fishing therefore only one side of a boat is used limiting the number of anglers to 5-6 per boat.

Tuition Available

We will be happy to give free tuition to beginners or advice to the more experienced angler if required. Full high quality rod and tackle hire is available on board.

Score Cards

Just to add a little bit of fun to the day you can print out and bring a "Score Card" along with you for each angler and keep the scores if you wish. Click here to download the Score Card in pdf format

Groups

If you have a large party we can arrange extra boats to cater for your group.

Departure Points

Departure points for deep sea fishing trips are Cobh, Monkstown or Crosshaven or other parts of Cork Harbour by prior arrangement

Important Information

We would advise you to bring a packed lunch and some snacks with you, we have plenty of free tea & coffee onboard. Bring some warm clothes with you because it is always cooler at sea even in summertime! Also bring some waterproof clothing along you just never know when you may need it. A large bottle of water or a soft drink is a good idea too in summer.

It is also wise to bring and apply a good sun block product, even on an overcast day in summer you could sun burn easily at sea!
